Product List
The Microchip MSL2162 drives sixteen parallel strings of LEDs with up to seventy-five LEDs per string and a drive current up to 2A. The LED driver accepts high voltage without need for a cascade device. LED string current is set for each string using a current sense resistor, which offers the flexibility to drive each string with a different peak current if desired. LED current is also globally adjustable for all sixteen LED strings with 8-bit control. Global string drive pulse width is adjusted with an 8-bit global intensity register, and individual string pulse width is modulated with 12-bit control. The MSL2162 uses external current control MOSFETs to sink up to 350 mA per string, with current accuracy and matching better than 1.5%. Fault detection, management of open and short circuit LEDs and the patented Microchip Adaptive SourcePower™ technology are implemented in the driver.
