Microchip LED drivers deliver intelligent system controls for multiple LED parallel arrays in applications such as street lighting, tunnel lights, parking garage lights, fluorescent tube replacements, and solar/off-grid lighting. The LED lighting segment is often divided into three categories based on the power consumption: residential and commercial lighting (1W – 25W), outdoor and industrial lighting (20W – 75W) and large infrastructure lighting (65W – 5000W). Patented Microchip Adaptive SourcePower™ technology results in significant power savings by automatically adjusting the LED supply to the lowest voltage to maintain regulation across all LED strings. Lumens-per-watt is the standard used by the lighting industry to measure the conversion of electrical energy to light. As a reference, conventional incandescent light bulbs are typically in the 10 to 20 lumens per watt range, while compact fluorescent lamps range from 50 to 60 lumens per watt.
