VL53L5CX Time-of-Flight Ranging Sensor | Datasheet Preview

The STMicroelectronics VL53L5CX is a Time-of-Flight 8x8 multi-zone ranging sensor with wide field of view. The sensor provides accurate multi-zone ranging output with 8 by 8 real-time native separate zones with a 45o by 45o field-of-view. The VL53L5CX offers a view out to 4 meters, a motion indicator for each zone, and can work at speeds up to 60 Hz, which makes it the fastest multizone miniature ToF sensor currently on the market. Housed in a miniature reflowable package, it integrates a single-photon avalanche diode array, physical infrared filters, and diffractive optical elements to achieve the best-ranging performance in various ambient lighting conditions with a range of cover glass materials. ST’s patented histogram algorithm allows the VL53L5CX to provide error-free sensing by ignoring unwanted background or foreground objects, or reporting the exact distances to multiple targets within the sensor field-of-view. The VL53L5CX is ideal for 3D mapping and scene understanding with multizone, multi-object distance, and obstacle detection in robotics, content management, liquid level monitoring, gesture recognition, augmented reality, virtual reality, and a litany of IoT applications.
