Infineon presents their XDPL8221 Lighting Controller, which is a highly-integrated, future-proof, and cost-effective dual stage IC driver. This digital light controller integrates a quasi-resonant power factor controller plus a quasi-resonant flyback controller with primary side regulation. It allows customers to quickly and easily, in real-time, configure features, protections, and compliance settings through its digital parameter configuration via the graphical user interface. Also, it includes a serial communication interface for supporting direct communication with an external microcontroller. And because this device is highly configurable, it permits one part to be leveraged on multiple board variants, which increases the efficiency of supply chain management. This IC is available in a DSO-16 package, and is well suited for smart lighting or IoT applications.
