Offered in a stretched SO-8 package, this 1-bit, second-order sigma-delta modulator employs a 20 megahertz internal clock and provides galvanic isolation based on optical coupling technology. The analog input voltage information is contained in the modulator data in the form of ones with a data rate of 20 megahertz. The digital data are encoded and transmitted across the isolation boundary where they are recovered and decoded into a high-speed data stream of ones and zeros. The original analog input voltage information is reconstructed using a digital filter. Applications include servo drives and motors, motor phase and rail current sensing, industrial process control, data acquisition systems, and more.
