Toshiba's server solutions improve power supply performance and protection capabilities

Power Supply PFC-Circuit: Power MOSFETs
A MOSFET with high withstand voltage and low on-resistance is suitable for the PFC circuit of a DC/DC power supply. By keeping on-resistance low, heat generation and current consumption can be kept to a minimum. By reducing the output charge, output loss can also be reduced. Toshiba’s U-MOS IX series power MOSFETs use high heat dissipation packages to further reduce heat generation.
Power Feedback Circuit: Photocouplers
Transistor-output photocouplers are commonly used for voltage-feedback to the primary at DC/DC supply. Signal transmission over different potentials is required on the primary and secondary sides, and electrically isolated photocouplers are a simple way to ensure isolation. An IC output photocoupler can communicate at high speed for signal communication in the power supply circuit. Additionally, it is important to comply with safety standards established in each country, and Toshiba photocouplers help with this process as they are approved for UL 1577 VDE: EN 60747-5-5, EN 62368-1, and others.

Power Line-Protection: eFuse IC, ESD Diodes, and More
Toshiba’s latest eFuse IC is especially useful for 12 V and 5 V power line-protection in server designs due to hot-swapping requirements. eFuses are effective at protecting equipment from surges such as overvoltage and overcurrent. This family features various protective functions such as short-circuit, overcurrent, overvoltage, and inrush current suppression in a single package. This helps improve overall protection and offers IEC 62368-1 to help qualify complete designs. In addition, high IPP ESD protection diodes and SBDs can be used in combination to provide a robust protection circuit.
