MAGNA-PLUG Magnetic Circular Connectors

Exceltec's connectors avoid cable breakages, reduce production downtime, and allow for quick equipment changes, generating savings

Image of Exceltec's MAGNA-PLUG Magnetic Circular ConnectorsExceltec's MAGNA-PLUG is a patent-pending industrial magnetic circular connector that reduces cable and probe breakages and allows for quick equipment changes and connection in manufacturing processes. This can reduce production downtime and increase savings. By simply pulling the cables, the MAGNA-PLUG connectors disconnect automatically. No more broken cables and sensors. These connectors will separate without damage from interruption due to damaged cables, making them suitable for food shelves that use a connector for a temperature probe or manufacturing equipment that is moved around. The MAGNA-PLUG is self-mating and keyed for self-alignment so reversed connection should be avoided as the internal magnets force the connectors to connect on the same pins every time.

The MAGNA-PLUG has a male and a female circular connector as well as a female connector variant for panel mounting. The body of the MAGNA-PLUG is made of food-grade Teflon which meets FDA regulations. The male and female connectors are equipped with a 316 stainless-steel (SS) ring adding more stiffness. The connector comes with six gold-plated PoGo pins (spring-loaded) to accommodate up to eighteen AWG caliber conductors. Each connector has a couple of cylindrical half-loaf Samarium-Cobalt (SmCo) magnets with five pounds of retention force per connector, providing 10 pounds of magnetic resistance when coupled which is enough to withstand armored or shielded cables without disconnecting. These unique industrial components withstand harsh environments with an IP67/NEMA 6 dust and waterproof rating. The MAGNA-PLUG works in low voltage signals of up to 48 VDC, control signal range of 4 mA to 20 mA, amperage of 1.5 A, and handles contacts up to 18 AWG.  Each connector weighs 70 g and has a cable gland to accommodate cable sizes ranging from 3.3 mm to 6.5 mm. The connectors offer an operating temperature range of -40°C to +150°C and a lifespan of 5,000 mating cycles in order to ensure connectivity.
