DC-DC Buck Converters

Diodes Incorporated has developed a wide range of DC-DC Buck Converters with a robust set of features and applications. These Buck Converters offer high efficiency, cost effectiveness, design flexibility, and a wide range of other benefits all housed within compact and space saving designs.

Features and Benefits:

  • Special Gate Drive Design – A selection of buck converters feature a special gate drive design that enables operation in LDO mode, allowing for near 100% duty cycle. This provides high efficiency and consistent performance. These designs are also an ideal choice for high output voltage, high current applications which require a low dropout threshold.
  • Best-In-Class EMI Performance – Many of Diodes’ buck converters feature Frequency Spread Spectrum (FSS) which reduces EMI by not allowing emitted energy to stay in any one frequency for a significant period of time. They also have a proprietary gate driver scheme to resist switching node ringing without sacrificing MOSFET turn-on and turn-off times, which further erases high-frequency radiated EMI noise caused by MOSFET switching.
  • Low External Component Counts - Due to its adoption of peak current mode control along with its integrated loop compensation network, a selection of Diodes’ buck converters keep external component counts low while offering little to no compromise to efficiency and performance.
  • Wide Input Voltages – Wide Input Voltages allow for greater flexibility and choice for designs. In addition, they provide increase reliability and robustness by providing greater accuracy.
  • Constant On-Time (COT) Control and Internal Proprietary Circuits – A variety of Diodes’ buck converters feature Constant On-Time control (COT) can handle wide input/output voltage ratios. The internal proprietary circuits enable some of the devices to adopt both low equivalent series resistance (ESR) output capacitors, such as SP-CAP or POSCAP and ultra-low ESR ceramic capacitors.
  • Rich Protection Features: UVLO, OVP, OCP, OTP, SCP etc. - Comprehensive protection features built into Diodes’ buck converters protect both the end system and the device itself. These include hiccup mode short-circuit protection (SCP), under-voltage lock-out (UVLO), over-temperature protection (OTP) and over-current protection (OCP).
  • Automotive DC-DC Converters – Many of Diodes’ buck converters are suitable for automotive applications requiring specific change control. Parts are AEC-Q100 qualified, PPAP capable, and manufactured in IATF 16949 certified facilities.
